The Timber TradieI have had a passion for timber since I was a child. I remember grabbing a few old sticks of timber from an old wardrobe, salvaging the timber slats from the doors, and nailing them together to make big letters and signs. Of course, being only 6 years old at the time, it was far from professional. I always wondered why my father never taught me how to use a hammer!

Living next to a pine forest in the Glasshouse Mountains, afforded me many opportunities to search for wood that could be used in different ways – even the odd piece of wood for chasing away the odd snake and kangaroo!

Anyway, as life went on my passion for wood and timber evolved into what it is today. I’m no website genius or marketing guy, but I like wood and working with wood. I felt the desire to share the knowledge I’ve accumulated along the way over the past 30 years or so. I don’t just have my own experience behind me – there are a lot of videos out there that I really appreciated. True timber artisans at work. I have embedded some of these videos at the bottom of my articles. I hope you can learn from them and appreciate them as I have. Of course, I don’t take credit for these creative works, and I receive no commission from the ads shown.

If you have any questions about timber, please feel free to contact me via my contact page. In this website I refer to myself as the timber tradie, but truth be told, I’m not technically a tradie. I am totally self-taught. I’m the typical Aussie bloke who likes to pick things up for himself. So I hope you enjoy the work I’ve put into this website. Thanks again for dropping by – it is much appreciated!
